Henry Steren was a German immigrant who lived in Quincy, Illinois. The United States records that were created about him indicate only that he was from the Province of Hanover in Germany. This lecture will detail how his town of origin and parents were identified, in spite of the lack of records naming him. Carefully researching each of his associates and correlating all available evidence reveals the origins of Henry. Use of the Genealogical Proof Standard is demonstrated. Complicating factors in this case are 1) very few records available for the person in question, 2) multiple people with the same given and last names, Steren is often confused with the common surname Stern.

Excellent webinar!
This program is a fantastic illustration of completely thorough research. Most of us have this very same problem--can't find the parents or can't find evidence to prove it. The Webinar should help many people.
Amazing lecture - I could follow it easily and see her thinking and steps she took. This is one I will probably watch again and use in my brick walls especially. There are so many ways I could use the information presented that I kept thinking of families I will go back and clarify who's who. Thank you!
Good research
Very informative webinar!! I'm still struggling with how the GPS system works and how different genealogists do it - I'll be watching this again and again!! Thank you.
Very informative.
This was so facinating! Loved it! Since she mentioned areas in Germany that my ancestors could've come from. I do not have the town name on any records, just very vague/broad. Usually 'Germany' or 'Prussia'. Great presentation!
Good reminders for all levels, but especially newbies.
