In this insightful webinar, genealogist Art Taylor demonstrates how artificial intelligence can transform the way researchers organize and access their growing collections of historical photos and documents. Presented as part of Legacy Family Tree’s AI for Genealogists series, the session introduces attendees to Excire Foto 2025, a standalone AI-driven photo management software designed to simplify the process of cataloging, tagging, and retrieving both modern and archival images. Taylor, a seasoned researcher with more than two decades of experience and an extensive photo archive dating back to the 1860s, shares his firsthand experience using Excire to overcome one of genealogy’s biggest challenges—keeping digital collections searchable, structured, and meaningful.
Key Takeaways:
AI-Powered Organization: Excire Foto 2025 automatically analyzes images, assigns relevant keywords, and evaluates visual quality, allowing genealogists to locate specific photos by theme, person, or object within seconds. The program’s intelligent search, facial recognition, and metadata tools significantly reduce manual tagging time while maintaining precision.
Metadata and Integration Features: Users can edit or add metadata such as GPS coordinates, capture dates, and descriptive details to scanned and digital images, ensuring long-term accessibility. Excire integrates smoothly with external editors like Lightroom Classic and other software, making it adaptable for both hobbyists and professionals managing large archives.
Enhanced Research Capabilities: Collections and groups can be built virtually—linking one photo to multiple individuals, locations, or historical events—without duplicating files. This functionality not only helps genealogists establish context between related materials but also preserves valuable storage space.
Throughout the session, Taylor highlights the program’s efficiency in handling multiple storage drives, support for various file formats, and even its capacity to identify duplicates or organize by attributes such as camera type or color tone. The engaging Q&A segment explores real-world applications, from handling metadata standards to evaluating free trials, upgrade options, and integration with cloud services.

More detailed than I expected. Speaker was very knowledgable.
I am on an M2 MacBook 15 but I found the screens Art showed were too small to follow his examples. Good information on Excire.
Not really what I need at the moment. Will probably listen again when the need arises. Right now my own system seems to be working well enough.
Thanks for the help!
An extremely important issue that everyone needs to address!
Some enlarged screenshots showing buttons and so forth would have been helpful.
It was slightly awkward, but the speaker was excellent at Q&A. The Excire program seems like it would be quite helpful in photo organization.
Good presentation. It was a bit beyond my level of dealing with photos but the features of the Excire Photo program and interesting. Thank you for stretching my photo management horizon.
