Often the more we learn about a topic the more we overcomplicate the application of that knowledge. Sometimes we need to step back and distill that knowledge down to just the essential parts to make it useful and actionable. Let's try that with DNA.
Diahan Southard knows firsthand what a difference it can make to know where you came from. What started off as an educational and career interest in genetic genealogy became deeply personal when she u...
Thank you for another interesting video. I always enjoy them.\n\nI do disagree with one thought in this video, though. Sometimes one *can* have the same genealogical relationship with a really young person and a very old person. There is a similar situation in a distant relative's tree. There are 51 years between the father's first child and his last child. If that first child had a child at 16 years of age and the youngest child had a child at age 40(which is common in their social circle), there would be a 75 year age difference between those first cousins. \n\nI think using age as a basis to assume cousin relationship levels can lead to a wrong assumption. \n\nKeep up the good work. I look forward to your next video. :)

All the tools are overwhelming! I watched this yesterday and worked on some of the topics this morning. Realized I can make a lot of progress by following the steps. Had not paid much attention to ethnicity before. Had some "lightbulb" moments this morning. Thank you.

Brilliant as always! Would love to see a mini webinar/tech zone for how to inspire others to agree to a DNA test I.e. the bit about how unique they are etc - loved that! Maybe something you could ask Diahan to do please?

Wow! I think I actually have a better understanding of how to approach my DNA mystery now (it's good to know my thinking was already on the right track). Thank you so very much for this webinar. Fantastically done. I'll definitely be watching this again and taking a few more notes along the way.
