This was outstanding and I learned a great deal about different ways to search for burials. As far as military headstones, yes they have to be applied for. I have several relatives that served in the military, KIA or died later. \n I have found the military applications and they were initiated by a close relative or family member. This sometimes contains a great deal of information, ie medals and location of burial.
